Ube Roll

Ube Roll

A twist to the all time favorite cinnamon roll using ube ganache as fillings. It brings home the earthy taste of ube creating a nice natural purple color to a soft bread roll.

Ingredients
  

Bread Ingredients
  • 1 cup Evaporated milk
  • 1/4 cup Heavy cream
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 5 tbsp Melted butter
  • 2 cups Bread flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup Granulated sugar
  • 3 tsp Fast acting yeast
Toppings
  • Ube halaya
  • 1/2 cup Powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp Butter
  • 2 oz Cream Cheese

Method
 

Bread (using bread machine)
  1. Add ingredients in the bread machine in the order it is listed except yeast.
  2. Make a well at the center of the dry ingredients and pour the yeast.
  3. Set bread machine to DOUGH mode and start. This will take for about 1.5 hours. The machine will mix the ingredients, knead the dough and let it rise.
  4. Divide the dough into 2 parts. Using roller make a rectangle and spread ube halaya and cheese. You can also add coconut strings if desired.
  5. Roll from one edge and cut it into 12 pieces. Arrange in a baking pan. Let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  6. Pre-heat the oven and bake for 20 minutes. Top with topping mixture while it is hot.
  7. Serve warm and enjoy.
