Apple Tart

Fall season is not complete without delectable apple tart. What a joy to make line up a thinly sliced apples to form this pastry.

Ingredients
  

Dough

  • 1 1/2 cup All purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 stick Butter (or 3/4 cups butter)
  • 1/3 cup Cold water

Fillings

  • 3 large Apples (cored, peeled and thinly sliced)
  • 1 tbsp All purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon powder
  • 1 tsp Pumpkin spice (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp Nutmeg
  • 3 tbsp Walnut (optional)
  • 2 tbsp Butter

Instructions
 

Dough

  • To make the dough, cut butter into the flour, salt, sugar using a pastry blender until pea size dough is formed.
  • Add cold mater and continue mixing until well blended. Form into a ball, wrap with saran wrap and refrigerate for 15 minutes.

Fillings

  • Mix flour, sugar, cinnamon powder, pumpkin spice and nutmeg. Carefully fold in apple slices. Reserve brown sugar and nutmeg as toppings after assembly.
  • Pre-heat the oven to 350 deg F.

To assemble

  • Generously grease the pan. Roll the dough evenly into the shape of your pan. Lift using the dough roller and cover the pan pressing it gently to cover all the spaces.
  • Spread butter into the dough and arrange the apples neatly to a desired design.
  • Sprinkle with turbinado sugar and walnut.
  • Bake for one hour. Glaze with apple butter if desired.
