Sizzling Tofu

A healthy version of the classic sisig recipe. It is a meatless, yet protein packed sisig with same flavor that can satisfy your craving for this all time favorite Filipino dish.

Sizzling Tofu Sisig

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Pack Medium firm tofu
  • 1/2 cup Olive oil
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1 tbsp Garlic (finely chopped)
  • 1 medium Onion or shallots (sliced thinly)
  • 1 cup Sliced mushroom
  • 1 pc Jalapeno (Chopped and remove seeds)
  • 1 pc Egg
  • 1/4 cup Green onions
Sauce Ingredients
  • 1 cup Mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp Oyster sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 2 tbsp Lemon juice or calamansi juice
  • Salt to taste

Method
 

  1. Slice tofu to small cubes. Fry with olive oil until brown. Drain oil and set aside.
  2. Prepare the sauce by mixing together all the sauce ingredients. Adjust the taste as desired. Set aside.
  3. On a sizzling skillet or cast iron pan, melt butter and saute garlic and onions. Add mushroom and jalapeno (as desired). Cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Mixed in tofu slices keeping the heat high.
  5. Remove from heat and pour the sauce and allow to sizzle. Garnish with egg and green onions.
  6. Serve and enjoy!
